Lecturer Foundation Learning - PMLD and SLD Salary: £26,743 to £37,294 Actual salary for 28.8 hours per week (4 days), 52 weeks per year Employment Type: Permanent, Part-time, 28.8 hours per week (4 days) or 25.2 hours per week (3.5 days) Are you a dedicated specialist educator driven by the belief that every learner deserves a pathway to independence? We are seeking a Specialist Lecturer to join the pioneering SEND community at a brand-new centre opening in September 2026. This role is specifically focused on supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This role is about more than classroom delivery; it is about being the architect of a holistic education program that integrates academic, physical, and emotional needs. You will lead a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring our learners are empowered to reach their individual milestones in a state-of-the-art environment. Partner daily with Speech and Language Therapists and Physiotherapists to provide integrated student support. We offer stable, part-time hours (25.2 or 28.8 per week) to support your work-life balance. Responsibilities: Design and coordinate bespoke curriculum programs for students with PMLD, SLD, and Autism. Create highly individualised schemes of work that blend academic learning with vital life and social skills. Manage a classroom team, providing direction to Learning Support Assistants to ensure a seamless educational experience. Use target setting and RARPA to track and maximise "every small win" for our complex needs learners. Lead on academic progress reviews and contribute directly to the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process. Requirements: Minimum Level 3 in a relevant field (degree preferred) and a Level 5 teaching qualification (or willingness to work toward one). Proven experience teaching students with ASD, SLD, and PMLD, navigating complex profiles with patience and strategy. A deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience with Total Communication, Makaton, or PECS.
