Job Title: HGV Technician / Mechanic - Day shifts Location: Adlington Salary: £20 per hour + bonus schemes Overtime: Available at time and a half on Saturdays Work Schedule: * Week One: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM * Week Two: Tuesday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM, plus Saturday morning (7:00 AM – 12:00 PM) About the Role: We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Technician / Mechanic to join a leading commercial vehicle maintenance provider. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to work on a wide variety of HGVs, trailers, and drawbars, performing servicing, repairs, and diagnostics to the highest standards. Bonuses & Benefits: * MOT Pass Rate Bonus: Additional earnings based on successful MOT pass rates. * HGV Class 1 License Bonus: Extra earnings for holding a Class 1 license. * HGV Class 1 Training: Company-sponsored training available for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: * Diagnose, service, and repair all makes and models of HGVs, trailers, and drawbars. * Use the latest diagnostic tools and manufacturer-specific equipment. * Perform repairs on brakes, clutches, gearboxes, engines, and electrical systems. * Carry out MOT inspections, preparation, and presentation. * Conduct roller brake testing, fault diagnosis, and necessary repairs. * Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with health and safety standards. * Occasionally work on small plant machinery. * Report to the Service Manager and follow company policies and procedures. Candidate Requirements: * Qualified vehicle mechanic with one of the following: * NVQ Level 3 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair * City & Guilds or equivalent qualification * Time-served experience in vehicle mechanics Skills & Attributes: * Strong attention to detail and ability to diagnose and repair vehicles accurately. * Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools and laptops. * Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality standards. * Proactive, flexible “can-do” attitude. * Strong problem-solving skills with minimal supervision. * Own tools required. * HGV License preferred but not essential.
