About the Role


Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our fast‑paced Assessment Team in Ely. Our Assessment Teams are lively, dynamic, and committed to delivering high‑quality, timely support to children, young people, and families across the community. You will work in an environment where the pace is fast, the work is varied, and multi‑agency collaboration is central to achieving strong outcomes.



Key Responsibilities


  • Complete timely assessments of children and families, in line with statutory guidance and local procedures.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring all work is prioritised effectively and completed within required timescales.
  • Undertake Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries, gathering and analysing information to make informed decisions about risk and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies including health, education, police, and voluntary services to ensure joined‑up, child‑centred support.
  • Produce clear, evidence‑based reports for a variety of forums, including case conferences, legal planning meetings and court (when required).
  • Develop and implement effective plans that safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
  • Engage children, young people, and families in a meaningful and respectful way, ensuring their voices influence assessment and decision‑making.
  • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date case records in line with council standards and statutory requirements.
  • Contribute to team meetings, reflective discussions, and service development.
  • Demonstrate strong professional judgement, resilience, and a commitment to high‑quality practice.


Skills


  • Qualified Social Worker with three years post qualifyingexperience
  • Strong assessment, analytical and decision‑making skills within a statutory children’s social care setting.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise competing demands, and meet tight statutory deadlines. xwzovoh
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in producing clear, high‑quality reports.
