Salary: £30,152.88 negotiable dependant on experience.

We are looking for an experienced Money Advice Worker to join our growing team at GEMAP. This is an exciting time to be part of the organisation as we expand our work to tackle poverty in Glasgow through high quality, person centred advice.
As a Money Adviser, you will be part of an energetic and supportive team, working directly with clients to maximise income, reduce household costs, and manage debt. You will provide accurate, practical advice that helps people improve their financial resilience and move towards greater stability.
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running , with strong knowledge of welfare rights and money advice legislation, and a sound understanding of the principles of financial capability. You will have excellent knowledge of state benefits, tax credits, and grants, and be confident assessing entitlement and supporting clients to make applications.
More than technical expertise, we are looking for someone who sees the whole person . You will be committed to delivering high quality advice in a respectful, non judgemental way and to supporting people at often challenging points in their lives.

Person Specification Advisor (Income Maximisation / Money Advice)
Qualifications & Training
Essential
Relevant training in General Advice, Welfare Rights, or Money Advice
Experience in providing one-to-one advice to clients (paid or voluntary)
Desirable
Formal accreditation or recognised qualification in Welfare Rights or Money Advice
Training aligned with Scottish National Standards for Advice and Information
Experience
Essential
Experience supporting clients with welfare benefits including an understanding of Universal Credit and legacy benefits
Experience assisting with benefit applications, reviews, mandatory reconsiderations and an understanding of the appeals process
OR
Demonstrable experience supporting clients with priority and non-priority debts
Essential (Alternative)
Experience providing money management and budgeting support
Experience negotiating with creditors on behalf of clients
Desirable
Experience managing a client caseload
Experience using AdvicePro or similar case management systems
Knowledge
Essential
Knowledge of income maximisation through benefits, tax credits, and grants
Understanding of debt solutions, liabilities, and negotiation xwzovoh strategies
Understanding of priority expenditure and budgeting principles
Knowledge of GDPR legislation in relation to clients and organisations
Understanding of equality and discrimination legislation
