About the role
Are you looking for a career in Farming? Do you have some skills and love it? Or have lots of skills and want a long term future and building a career?
You can join our small, dedicated team of four running the farm.
The perfect job for you if you are enthusiastic, reliable and looking to build a career in professional agriculture.
This is a 2,250-acre, diverse, arable farm located on the outskirts of Boston. They farm wheat, spring beans, vining peas, oats, potatoes, mustard, and daffodils. We are looking for someone with a great attitude who wants to learn—lack of experience is not a barrier as full training will be provided for the right person. You will be tractoring, tinkering, mending, fixing, building, driving, drilling, spraying and harvesting with a side of everything else.
A huge range of jobs and projects. Honestly there is never a dull moment. Environmental schemes, maintaining solar arrays, repurposing old agricultural buildings, and hosting educational days.
This is a varied, year-round role that changes with the seasons. Peak season is 16 weeks. Aug, Sept, Oct, March. This means tractor work, land preparation, drilling and harvest.
Off peak is Daffodil harvest, loading lorries, jetting out drains, cleaning stores, machinery maintenance in the workshop, and general estate management. This is physical, outdoor work maintaining the farm.
With a modern fleet and accessories you’ll be working in a Fendt Crawler 943 Vario MT, you will need a tracks certificate. Great Plains SLD600 & Lemken Europal 8 (6+1). Horsch Pronto 9DC or 6m Kuhn Megant.
Not for the faint hearted you’ll need flexible attitude to working hours. Harvest is crazy when it’s dry. Overtime and weekend work are required during manic season. Outside of peak, if you want lots of overtime, it’s there. If you want quieter times, off peak that’s an option too.
Ideally holding PA1, PA2, PA4, Counterbalance/Rough Terrain Telehandler, and ATV licenses. However, if you are successful we can put you through these. Competitive salary based on your experience. Excellent benefits package including bonuses a very healthy OT rate. This is a long-term career opportunity for a progressive, varied farming business. While not initially provided, a farm cottage will become available, usually following five years of service.
If you are looking to work with modern machinery in a friendly, professional environment, we want to hear from you.
