Our UK retirement annuity book stands at an estimated 86.1 billion at 31 December 2023. Across our retail and institutional retirement businesses, we look after more than 1 million customers, around c.700,000 of whom are institutional customers who have had their retirement benefits secured with us. Job DescriptionWe are looking for a talented Pensions Actuary to join our Onboarding Calculations Team within our Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) Client Services function.In this pivotal role, you will help ensure the efficient and accurate delivery of manual calculations and essential claims work, whilst also providing technical expertise across the team on complex benefit structures and other specialist aspects of Defined Benefit pension schemes.If you have a strong background in Defined Benefit pensions, enjoy leading projects, coaching and supporting junior colleagues, and thrive when working on complex, detail‑oriented tasks, we would be delighted to hear from you.This is a hybrid working opportunity, which gives you the flexibility to split your week between home and our Hove offices to help you achieve a work‑life balance that works for you.What you'll be doing:Providing technical oversight to the work done by the Onboarding Calculations TeamProducing and checking individual Defined Benefits quotationsLeading and supporting projects to enhance and improve our processesActing as a Subject Matter Expert for the team, and providing technical support as requiredSupporting Team Managers with the ongoing development and coaching of the wider teamProducing and analysing regular MI to ensure the quality of our customer outcomesWorking closely with other internal teams to optimise the delivery of operational outcomesFacilitating the operation of any additional activities (as required)QualificationsWho we're looking for:Qualified Actuary with significant DB pension administration experienceDetailed understanding of defined benefit pension scheme structures and regulationsExtensive experience with manual individual quotations and complex DB benefit structuresProven ability to deliver solutions to technical and business problemsStrong customer and client focus with excellent relationship management and leadership skillsAbility to manage tight timescales and prioritise work effectivelyExcellent communication skills and ability to support team developmentKnowledge of relevant legislation and compliance requirementsWhatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you.
