Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 depending on experience

A specialist education provider is seeking an experienced and passionate Curriculum Co-ordinator to lead the development, implementation, and quality assurance of its curriculum across SEMH and SEND provisions in Greater Manchester.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher or curriculum leader who is passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable learners and ensuring that curriculum intent is translated into high-quality classroom practice.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping ambitious and engaging learning experiences, supporting staff development, and driving continuous improvement across teaching and learning.
The Role
The Curriculum Co-ordinator will take responsibility for leading curriculum development across the organisation, ensuring a coherent, inclusive, and well-sequenced curriculum that meets the needs of pupils with SEND, SEMH, and disrupted educational journeys.
Working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, and inclusion teams, the postholder will support curriculum implementation, quality assurance activities, staff coaching, and professional development while helping to drive high standards across the provision.
This role combines curriculum leadership, quality assurance, staff development, and strategic planning within a specialist education environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of the curriculum across the organisation
Design and refine curriculum plans, sequences of learning, and high-quality teaching resources
Ensure curriculum intent is clearly articulated and consistently embedded within classroom practice
Monitor curriculum implementation through learning walks, lesson observations, work scrutiny, and pupil voice activities
Analyse curriculum impact, pupil engagement, progress, and outcomes to identify areas for improvement
Support staff through coaching, mentoring, curriculum guidance, and professional development
Lead curriculum-focused CPD sessions and promote evidence-based teaching approaches
Work collaboratively with SEND and Inclusion Leads to ensure curriculum accessibility and appropriate adaptations
Support curriculum mapping, assessment development, and quality assurance processes
Maintain high-quality curriculum documentation and contribute to strategic planning and reporting
Promote inclusive, trauma-informed, and child-centred approaches across the provision
Contribute to school improvement priorities and continuous development initiatives
The Ideal Candidate
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Proven experience in curriculum leadership, subject leadership, phase leadership, or teaching and learning leadership
Strong classroom teaching background with experience supporting diverse learner needs
Experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH, or disrupted educational journeys
Strong understanding of curriculum design, sequencing, progression, and assessment
Experience coaching, mentoring, or supporting colleagues to improve teaching practice
Experience monitoring teaching and learning through quality assurance activities
Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
Ability to analyse assessment data and use evidence to drive curriculum improvements
Passion for inclusive education and improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
Desirable Experience
NPQ, Master's degree, or further leadership qualifications
Experience within specialist education, alternative provision, PRUs, nurture settings, or therapeutic environments
Experience leading curriculum redesign, mapping, or whole-school curriculum projects
Knowledge of research-informed practice, cognitive science, retrieval practice, or mastery approaches
Experience delivering CPD and leading staff development initiatives
Understanding of trauma-informed and relational practice
