Specialist ALN Teaching Assistant – Aberdare, South Wales
We are recruiting experienced and dedicated ALN Teaching Assistants to join a reputable provider supporting learners with additional needs in Aberdare. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with special educational needs (SEN).
The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting children with diverse needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), Global Delay Disorder, and challenging behaviour. As an ALN Teaching Assistant, you will support learners on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, assist with classroom organisation, and work closely with teaching staff to deliver personalised learning plans.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support and supervise learners with ASD, PDA, Global Delay Disorder, or challenging behaviour
* Assist learners during the beginning and end of the school day
* Help prepare classrooms for lessons and activities
* Support learners in classroom and out-of-classroom activities
* Follow behaviour management policies efficiently
* Support learners during break times and with lunch supervision
* Collaborate with teachers to deliver tailored educational activities
Candidate Requirements:
* Minimum of 3 months experience working with children in educational or childcare settings (experience within an SEN environment is advantageous)
* Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) – support available for registration
* Current Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check on the update service or willingness to obtain one
* Valid references covering the past two years with no gaps
* Right to work in the UK
