About the role

Acting as an authorized officer of the Council. To be responsible for a full range of professional and specialist duties to ensure the efficient and effective discharge of the Service's and Council's duties, policies, procedures and practices in relation to Environmental Health and Public Protection. To contribute to the delivery of the annual service plan for the Public Protection Service. We welcome applications from non-Welsh speakers. All successful applicants requiring support to learn/improve their Welsh language skills will be offered funded lessons, during work time, to help reach the desired standard. Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Working: Subject to certain conditions being met, you may choose to work from home or in an office location. Due to the nature of the role, it will be necessary for you to travel within Ceredigion on a regular basis.
  • Flexi-time: Hours may be worked within a defined bandwidth, Monday to Friday, subject to service needs. These will be held in Penmorfa, Aberaeron unless alternative arrangements are agreed with interviewee.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Act as an authorized officer of the Council.
  • Responsible for a full range of professional and specialist duties to ensure efficient and effective discharge of the Service's and Council's duties, policies, procedures and practices in relation to Environmental Health and Public Protection.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the annual service plan for the Public Protection Service.
  • Able to build effective working relationships within and outside the work service area.
  • Apply analytical skills to a range of practical problems.
  • Commit to implementing the policies, aims and objectives of the Council.
  • Commit to providing a service to the public.
  • Good IT skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to quickly learn new packages as required.
  • Commit to developing quality standards.
  • Commit to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work on own and as part of a team.
  • Ability to hold confidential information.
  • Enforce legal standards in an assertive but tactful manner.
  • Drive with access to car for business purposes.
