Senior/Principal Civil Engineer – Drainage  Remote  An established civil engineering firm is looking to appoint a Senior or Principal Civil Engineer to lead on drainage design and delivery. The role offers a home-based, remote working arrangement, with travel into the York office required just once a month. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced drainage engineer to step into a senior, technically-led role, mentoring junior staff and acting as a key technical point of contact for clients, while enjoying genuine flexibility around where you work. The Role: Leading drainage design across a varied project portfolio, including SuDS and foul/surface water strategies Reviewing and approving drainage designs and calculations produced by junior engineers Acting as technical lead and main point of contact for clients on drainage-related matters Mentoring and supporting the development of junior engineers within the team Liaising with local authorities and water authorities to support consents and approvals Contributing to bids, proposals, and business development where relevantWhat's Required: A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) Significant experience in drainage design at Senior or Principal level Strong working knowledge of drainage design software (e.g. MicroDrainage/Causeway Flow, Civils 3D) and current standards (e.g. Sewers for Adoption, CIRIA SuDS guidance) Chartered status (or working towards) preferred Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work independentlyWhat's on Offer: Competitive salary, dependent on experience Home-based, remote working, with travel to the York office required just once a month The opportunity to take a lead technical role within a supportive, established team Genuine flexibility and autonomyThis role would suit a drainage specialist ready to step into a senior, client-facing position, with the flexibility to work largely from home.
