Serenity Education Group is looking to appoint an experienced and passionate Head of School - Primary and Nurture to work as part of our central leadership team based in Eltham.

Serenity School Eltham is seeking toappoint an experienced, compassionate and strategic Head of School - Primary and Nurture to join our supportive and collaborative leadership team.

Serenity School is a specialist educational setting providing a safe, nurturing and structured environment for pupils with a wide range of SEND. We are committed to ensuring every pupil achieves their full potential through trauma-informed practice, high expectations and inclusive approaches.

This senior leadership role providesstrategic and operational oversight of both the Primary phase and nurtureprovision, playing a key role in shaping high-quality teaching and pastoralcare, strengthening safeguarding systems, and securing strong outcomes for pupils and families.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing strategic and operational leadership across the Primary and Nurture provision, aligned with the school's vision and improvement priorities
  • Leading a trauma-informed, inclusive and aspirational curriculum that meets pupils' emotional, developmental and academic needs
  • Driving high standards in behaviour, attendance, personal development and wellbeing using restorative and nurture-based approaches
  • Ensuring robust safeguarding practice, strong pastoral systems, and effective multi-agency collaboration
  • Line managing and developing staff, promoting consistency, reflective practice and professional growth
  • Building strong partnerships with parents/carers and external professionals
  • Contributing to whole-school self-evaluation, development planning and inspection readiness

Person Specification

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is an experienced, values-driven leader with a strong commitment to primary education, nurture, inclusion and SEND provision
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and has leadership experience within a primary, nurture, SEND or specialist setting
  • Has a secure understanding of safeguarding, SEND legislation and statutory guidance
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Is resilient, reflective and empathetic, with the ability to lead with consistency and high expectations
  • Is fully committed to equality, inclusion, and the wellbeing of pupils and staff
