About the role Mencap is currently looking for an experienced Property Manager to join our Property Team on a 14-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

This is a full-time, flexible working role, with travel required across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Youll play a vital role in ensuring our diverse property portfolio is safe, compliant and fit for purpose, helping us deliver high-quality services for the people we support, our colleagues and volunteers.

The Property Team at Mencap plays a critical role in supporting our organisational mission.

The team is responsible for the day-to-day management of a national and diverse property portfolio, including supported living accommodation, registered care homes, offices and retail premises.

Working closely with operational services, finance, legal colleagues, external landlords and contractors, the team delivers responsive repairs, statutory compliance, and effective property solutions that enable high-quality support services.

The Property Manager will be an integral part of this collaborative team, maintaining service continuity and upholding Mencaps values throughout the maternity cover period.

What will you do as a Property Manager? As a strong and confident communicator, you will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation.

This includes colleagues in the Property and Housing Management teams, as well as colleagues across Personal Services and Retail directorates.

Key responsibilities include: Communicating effectively both face-to-face and remotely (via Teams and phone) Understanding and reviewing our current approach to statutory compliance and reactive repairs Analysing existing supplier relationships and contracts Reviewing statutory compliance reports to assess standards and identify any compliance gaps Ensuring Health & Safety is a priority, supported through robust reporting Identifying improvements to Health & Safety procedures across facilities management and property compliance activit What do you need for the Property Manager role? Demonstrable and sound technical property knowledge, ideally gained within a care home, housing provider or supported living environment CIFWM or MRICS qualification in Building Surveying or Property Management Experience working in a client-side role for a nationwide organisation with a multi-site, mixed-use portfolio Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience (PQE) A strong understanding of CDM Regulations The closing date for applications is Tuesday 19 May, with interviews scheduled to take place on 11 and 12 June.
