Medical Affairs Scientist
Cambridge, UK | Hybrid
Fixed-Term Contract through December 2028
We are supporting a well-established genomics and molecular diagnostics company in the search for a Medical Affairs Scientist to join their growing scientific and clinical team.
The company develops and supports diagnostic technologies used globally across areas including cancer genetics, cytogenetics, and rare disease testing.
This is a highly cross-functional opportunity sitting at the intersection of science, diagnostics, clinical studies, and external collaborations. The role would suit someone with a background in cytogenetics, FISH, molecular diagnostics, or clinical genomics who is looking to broaden their exposure beyond pure laboratory work.

The Role
You will support the generation of clinical and analytical evidence for diagnostic products through a combination of:
- Study coordination
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Scientific documentation
- External collaborations
- Cross-functional project support
The position offers exposure across:
- Clinical diagnostics
- Translational science
- Scientific/medical affairs
- Project coordination
- Validation and quality activities
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and support analytical and clinical performance studies
- Analyse and interpret diagnostic data across multiple methodologies
- Draft protocols, study plans, reports, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with external laboratories, clinicians, and scientific partners
- Support validation and quality management activities
- Contribute scientific input into product and technical materials
- Support project delivery across internal and external stakeholders
Background Sought
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- FISH
- Cytogenetics
- Karyotyping
- Molecular diagnostics
- Clinical genomics
- Diagnostic laboratory workflows
Suitable backgrounds may include:
- NHS cytogenetics/genomics laboratories
- Molecular diagnostics companies
- Pathology/genomics xwzovoh environments
- Clinical diagnostics or translational science settings
Ideal Experience
- Degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biomedical Science, or similar
- Experience working in a regulated diagnostics or clinical laboratory environment
- Strong scientific communication and organisational skills
- Experience handling and interpreting clinical or diagnostic data
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with scientific and external stakeholders
