Our client is a market leading law firm looking to recruit an NQ-2 PQE Associate into its Surrey based construction team. The role is focused principally on non-contentious construction work and offers exposure to a broad mix of development, regeneration, real estate and infrastructure matters, including selected international projects.
The role
The associate will work with clients across the construction and development market, including owners, investors, developers, funders, contractors, consultants and public-sector bodies. The work is varied and begins at the planning and procurement stage, continuing through the drafting and negotiation of project documentation and advice on issues arising during live schemes.
- drafting and negotiating construction contracts, appointments and development-related documents;
- advising on standard forms including JCT, NEC and EPC arrangements, alongside bespoke project documentation;
- supporting development, regeneration, accommodation, healthcare, energy and infrastructure projects;
- reviewing contractual risk on live projects, including payment, delay, termination and insolvency-related issues;
- assisting with larger due diligence exercises and more complex development arrangements; and
- contributing to team know-how and business development activity.
The candidate
Applications are invited from qualified solicitors at NQ-2 PQE level with experience gained in a construction team or a relevant housing/development practice. The strongest candidates will have a grounding in non-contentious construction matters and familiarity with standard-form construction contracts and consultant appointments. Experience of commercial or housing development work would also be useful. The team is keen to hear from lawyers who are interested in developing their technical knowledge and taking on increasingly bespoke and complex work with appropriate supervision.
The opportunity
This is a full-time London role within a specialist team handling a broad range of construction and development work. It should suit a junior construction lawyer who wants a balanced practice combining transactional drafting, project advisory work and exposure to significant development schemes.
