1:1 Autism Support Assistant | Romford Full-Time | Immediate Start | Long-Term Role Are you passionate about supporting children with autism and making a real difference every day? A welcoming and inclusive SEN school in Romford  is looking to appoint a dedicated 1:1 Autism Support Assistant to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis starting immediately. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with a pupil, helping them thrive both academically and socially within a supportive school environment. About the Role In this role, you will provide consistent 1:1 support for a child with autism, helping them access learning, manage routines, and feel confident in the classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team to deliver tailored strategies that meet the child’s individual needs. Building a strong, trusting relationship will be key, as you support the pupil in developing communication skills, emotional regulation, and independence. What You’ll Be Doing Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with autism Supporting the child’s learning, communication, and social development Helping manage routines, transitions, and classroom expectations Implementing strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs Encouraging confidence, independence, and engagement Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and support staff What We’re Looking For Experience supporting children with autism or SEN A calm, patient, and consistent approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils Understanding of behaviour and emotional support strategies A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Why This Role Stands Out A meaningful 1:1 role where you can see real progress Join a supportive and inclusive SEN school Full-time, long-term stability Opportunity to develop your experience in autism support Ongoing guidance from your GSL Education consultant If you’re a compassionate and dedicated support assistant ready to make a positive impact, this could be the perfect role for you.
