Freelance Quantity Surveyor – Retail Fit-Out Fit Out UK | Flexible / Hybrid / Remote (offices in London 2-3 days a week) Fit Out UK is an industry-leading interior fit-out and logistics specialist working with major blue-chip clients across retail, hospitality, banking and commercial sectors. We are seeking an experienced freelance Quantity Surveyor to support our growing pipeline of refit and rollout projects. This is a opportunity ideal for a self-motivated QS who thrives on autonomy while delivering high-quality commercial support across multiple concurrent schemes. Scope of Work You will manage the full commercial lifecycle of assigned projects from inception to final account, including: * Leading quantity surveying activities: cost planning, estimation, cost control and contract administration * Attending scoping visits and survey meetings as required * Producing detailed cost plans and ensuring clear handover to the project team * Participating in pre-start meetings to align programme and commercial strategy * Liaising with client Project Quantity Surveyors / Cost Managers * Handling subcontractor enquiries, analysing prices and placing orders under agreed contractual terms * Providing commercial advice and support to Project Managers and delivery teams * Preparing budget costings and bills of quantities * Managing multiple projects simultaneously * Producing CVR reports with clear commentary on movements, risks and opportunities * Ensuring contractual compliance and that risks are effectively passed down to subcontractors * Undertaking client and subcontractor valuations * Maximising cash position and providing cash-flow forecasts * Preparing and submitting final accounts * Approving subcontractor payments, capturing and managing variations, and robustly challenging subcontractor final accounts * Contributing to lessons-learned and post-contract reviews Ideal Profile * Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in a similar commercial role, preferably with a main contractor or fit-out contractor * Strong working knowledge of commercial and construction contracts and contractual arrangements * Experience working with schedules of rates and/or frameworks * Background in retail fit-out or similar fast-paced construction environments preferred * Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver accurate commercial reporting under pressure Working arrangement: Fully flexible hybrid/remote model with site attendance in London 2-3 days a week required.
