Facade Design Manager

Design Manager – Building Envelope / Façades Location: Crawley Salary: Negotiable Job Type: Permanent We are currently working with a well-established specialist contractor within the building envelope and façade sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Design Manager with a background in façades, cladding, roofing or the wider building envelope to take ownership of design delivery across a range of technically challenging projects. The Role As Design Manager, you will be responsible for managing the design process from pre-construction through to delivery, working closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams to ensure designs are technically compliant, commercially viable and delivered to programme. Key responsibilities will include: Managing the design process across multiple building envelope projects. Coordinating design teams, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers. Reviewing technical drawings, specifications and design information. Ensuring designs comply with relevant regulations, standards and project requirements. Managing design programmes, deliverables and technical submissions. Identifying and resolving design issues throughout the project lifecycle. Supporting pre-construction and tender activities where required. Working closely with Commercial and Project teams to manage design changes and associated costs. Attending design, client and project meetings. Ensuring effective communication between design and construction teams. Maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants and project stakeholders. About You The successful candidate will ideally have: Proven experience in a Design Manager / Senior Designer / Design Coordinator position within the building envelope, façade, cladding or construction sector. Strong technical understanding of façade and/or building envelope systems. Experience managing design packages from concept through to construction. Ability to interpret and review technical drawings and specifications. Strong knowledge of construction processes and relevant UK standards/regulations. Excellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skills. The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines. A proactive approach with strong attention to technical detail.
