Your RoleThe Tooling Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of tooling solutions to support aerospace manufacturing and assembly operations. The role ensures tooling is safe, efficient, compliant, and capable of supporting production flow, quality standards, and operational takt requirements across landing gear and associated aerospace components. The Tooling Engineer will work closely with Assembly Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Production teams to deliver robust tooling solutions that support both OE and MRO environments. (benefits, specificities, etc.)Key Responsibilities •Design and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs, lifting aids, and assembly equipment to support aerospace manufacturing and inspection operations. •Support production teams with tooling-related technical issues, investigations, and root cause analysis. •Ensure tooling complies with aerospace standards, health & safety requirements, and company procedures. •Produce and maintain tooling drawings, specifications, risk assessments, and technical documentation. •Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, ergonomics, quality, and production efficiency. •Support new product introduction (NPI), industrialisation activities, and pulse line integration. •Work collaboratively with Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to ensure tooling availability aligns with production demand. •Coordinate tooling trials, capability studies, and validation activities. •Manage tooling modifications and configuration control processes. •Support investigation and resolution of non-conformances related to tooling or assembly processes. •Monitor tooling performance, maintenance requirements, and lifecycle management. •Provide technical guidance and training to production personnel where required. •Support lean manufacturing initiatives and waste reduction activities across the production environment. •Liaise with external suppliers and vendors regarding tooling manufacture, repair, and procurement. Candidate skills & requirementsWhat You'll Bring•Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline. •Experience within aerospace manufacturing, assembly, or MRO environments. •Strong understanding of tooling design principles and manufacturing processes. •Experience supporting high-volume or pulse line production environments. •Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications. •Knowledge of geometric tolerancing (GD&T) and assembly principles. •Experience with root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies. •Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. •Competent in CAD systems and Microsoft Office applications. •Understanding of aerospace quality and regulatory requirements. •Experience within landing gear, hydraulics, or complex mechanical assemblies. •Familiarity with SAP or equivalent ERP systems. •Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. •Experience with PFMEA, risk assessments, and process validation. •Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards professional registration.
