Across the UK and Ireland, essential infrastructure needs to be reimagined, renewed and maintained – safely, sustainably and at scale. That only works if the commercial decisions behind the work are sound. As a Regional Commercial Director, you’ll help shape those decisions. You’ll influence how we win work, manage risk and turn contracts into long-term value for our clients, communities and business. Working with divisional leaders and delivery teams, you’ll plan early, tackle issues head-on and help teams make confident decisions. This is a visible leadership role with the chance to grow the commercial function and develop future leaders.

Supporting successful work-winning –

You’ll lead the commercial side of bids, shaping our approach before we commit. You’ll:

Agree a clear commercial approach with delivery teams

Engage the supply chain appropriately

Make sure tenders reflect real costs and contractual terms

Managing pre-contract activity –

Before work starts, you’ll help make sure commercial arrangements are clear and workable by:

Supporting contract briefings

Agreeing measurement and reporting approaches

Making sure supplier terms reflect scope and risk

Managing valuation and change – Once projects are live, you’ll keep valuations and change processes close to what’s happening on site.

Oversee valuation submissions and payment processes

Support management of early warnings and compensation events

Protect our position while maintaining strong client relationships

Managing supply chain costs –

You’ll help maintain confidence in our cost position by:

Reviewing interim and final accounts

Supporting subcontract administration

Resolving issues early

Maintaining reliable commercial records –

You’ll support teams in keeping accurate registers and documentation so reporting stands up to scrutiny.

Monitoring contract performance –

You’ll help teams understand emerging risks or opportunities and respond accordingly. You’ll oversee:

Cashflow and forecasting

Risk and opportunity registers

Weekly and monthly CVRs

4. What it’ll take to succeed

The skills, mindset and experience you’ll bring and grow.

Essential: Core skills, experience, qualifications and professional memberships you’ll need from day one:

Commercial expertise

Degree in Quantity Surveying (or related discipline)

Significant senior commercial experience in infrastructure or construction

Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts

Leadership and delivery

Proven record leading commercial or cross-functional teams

Experience managing complex portfolios or competing priorities

A supportive, inclusive leadership style that builds high-performing teams

Stakeholder and decision-making capability

Strong relationship management with senior stakeholders

Ability to coach and develop others

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Technical and analytical capability

Strong IT skills (including Excel)

Confidence using data to support commercial decisions

Desirable: Other skills, experience, qualifications and professional memberships that will help you grow with us:

Chartered status with RICS or CICES (or working towards)

Experience with FIDIC, JCT or other bespoke contract forms
