Senior Building Surveyor

Praxis is growing, and were looking for a Senior Building Surveyor to take ownership of a high-quality UK commercial property portfolio, delivering refurbishment, development and major capital projects from inception through to completion.

This is not a role where youll be managing minor works in isolation. Youll have exposure to significant, commercially important projects, working closely with Asset Management, Property Management, Facilities Management, contractors and consultants to improve assets, protect value and drive performance.

A genuinely exciting project pipeline.

Youll step into an active pipeline of projects, including:

• Major CAT A refurbishment contract value of up to £10m
• Fareham CAT A & CAT B refurbishment to reposition space and secure a new lease c.£3m
• Chelmsford complex cladding remediation addressing fire integrity and water ingress c.£1m
• Brindleyplace, Birmingham new glass-box entrance, reception transformation and café c.£750k
• Breakspear targeted roof works c.£300k

Youll have the opportunity to work across the full asset lifecycle, build strong commercial expertise and take genuine ownership of projects from early strategy through to delivery.

What youll be doing:

• Project delivery managing refurbishment, development and major repair projects from inception to completion
• Commercial control managing budgets, programmes, cashflow, variations, risk and cost
• Contract administration overseeing procurement, appointments, instructions, certificates and contractual obligations
• Technical delivery diagnosing defects, developing project strategies and providing building surveying advice
• Consultant & contractor management appointing teams, challenging performance and driving high-quality outcomes
• Statutory & compliance matters including CDM, Building Control, planning and Party Wall
• Asset support providing technical input to Asset Managers, acquisitions, tenant matters, dilapidations and wider asset decisions
• Project governance maintaining clear reporting, documentation and records through to completion and handover

What were looking for

Youll be an experienced Building Surveyor with strong commercial property experience (must have exposure to working with office space assets) and a track record of delivering refurbishment and capital projects.

Youll bring:

• Strong technical building surveying expertise
• Proven project delivery and contract administration experience
• Experience managing budgets, programmes and contractors
• Strong knowledge of refurbishment, construction and defect diagnosis
• Confidence dealing with consultants, contractors and senior stakeholders
• Good understanding of CDM, Building Control, planning and Party Wall
• Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail
• Experience with Office Space Assets
• MRICS or equivalent desirable

Most importantly, youll be someone who takes ownership, challenges when things aren't right and wants to understand the commercial impact of the work you deliver.
