Hours: Full-Time (37 hrs)

We are recruiting an experienced Homelessness Prevention Team Leader to lead a frontline service supporting families at risk of homelessness. This is an operational, hands-on interim role requiring strong people management skills and up-to-date statutory homelessness expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a frontline homelessness prevention service for families, ensuring delivery of statutory duties under the Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
  • Provide day-to-day management, coaching and professional support to officers, maintaining high standards of casework quality.
  • Oversee and approve complex homelessness assessments and prevention/relief activity, ensuring decisions are legally robust.
  • Chair action-focused, multi-agency case conferences to resolve complex cases.
  • Interpret and apply complex housing and welfare legislation, providing guidance to staff and partner organisations.
  • Monitor service performance, expenditure and budgets, supporting cost control and prevention outcomes.
  • Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment, liaising with internal teams and external partners.

Essential Experience:

  • Recent experience delivering a frontline housing or homelessness service at Team Leader level.
  • Evidence of recent hands-on experience of Section 2A(2) of the Housing Act 1996 (as amended) and the ability to clearly evidence this at interview.
  • Strong experience interpreting complex housing and welfare legislation.
  • Proven experience managing and supporting staff in a high-pressure operational environment.
  • Experience of monitoring budgets and expenditure.
  • Experience chairing action-focused case conferences and working in a multi-agency setting.
