Social Housing Assessment & Lettings Officer
Wembley | Hybrid Working
Standard DBS required
A Wembley-based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Social Housing Assessment & Lettings Officer to join their team on a temporary contract until August, with the potential for extension.
This is a full-time role (Monday to Friday), operating on a hybrid basis with 3 days per week in the office.
Pay Rates
- £21.41 per hour (PAYE)
- £28.19 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out housing needs assessments in line with housing legislation and local authority policy
- Assess applications for social housing, including eligibility, priority and banding
- Manage a caseload of applicants and provide clear advice on housing options
- Allocate properties in accordance with the housing allocations scheme
- Liaise with applicants, internal teams, housing providers and external agencies
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with data protection requirements
- Respond to enquiries and appeals in a timely and professional manner
- Contribute to service improvement and performance targets
Essential Experience & Requirements
- Previous experience in housing assessments, allocations or lettings within a local authority or social housing environment
- Good understanding of housing legislation, homelessness duties and allocations schemes
- Experience managing complex caseloads and working to deadlines
- Strong customer service and communication skills xwzovoh
- Ability to make sound decisions and explain outcomes clearly to customers
- Confident IT skills and experience using housing management systems
- Standard DBS check required
