Mechanical Construction Manager

Location: Oxford Rate: £320 per day Contract: Freelance (Potential PAYE Opportunity) Start: Immediate The Opportunity One of the UK’s largest and most respected MEP contractors is seeking an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join the team on a flagship science park and commercial development based in Oxford. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a contractor that has an outstanding reputation within the industry, a strong project pipeline, and a proven track record of progressing and retaining high-performing staff. Initially offered on a freelance basis, there is a genuine opportunity for the successful candidate to transition into a permanent PAYE position in the near future. Role Overview You will take responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day delivery of the mechanical package, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and quality expectations. The role requires a strong Construction Manager with experience coordinating multiple mechanical disciplines and managing subcontractors within fast-paced commercial environments. Key Responsibilities * Oversee mechanical installation works across the project * Manage and coordinate subcontractors and specialist suppliers * Ensure works are delivered in line with programme, specifications, and quality standards * Maintain strict health & safety compliance on site * Coordinate multiple mechanical disciplines across various work fronts * Monitor progress and provide reporting to senior project teams * Support commissioning, snagging, and handover activities * Liaise with consultants, clients, and internal delivery teams Requirements * Proven experience as a Mechanical Construction Manager within MEP/building services * Strong background working on commercial projects * Experience overseeing multiple mechanical disciplines * Strong subcontractor management and coordination skills * Good understanding of programme management and site delivery What’s on Offer * £320 per day * Long-term project opportunity * Potential transition to a permanent PAYE role * Opportunity to work on a landmark science park development * Career progression with one of the UK’s leading MEP contractors
