Purchasing Manager- Pharma Manufacturing
Merseyside (Onsite role) | Permanent | £Competitive
Mon-Fri (08:00-16:30)
25 days holiday plus bank holidays, Bonus scheme (individual & company performance), Pension & Death in Service.
This is a hands-on, commercially focused role where you will have the opportunity to shape purchasing strategy, drive meaningful cost savings and develop a high-performing team of four.
You will work closely with the Operations Director and Senior Management Team, managing everything from supplier relationships and international sourcing through to stock control, contracts and purchasing strategy.
The Role
• Lead and develop a team of four across the Purchasing function.
• Own and deliver the purchasing strategy for an annual spend of £10m>
• Drive cost savings, supplier performance and commercial improvements.
• Negotiate contracts and build strong UK and international supplier relationships.
• Manage purchasing across ingredients, chemicals, components, packaging, printed materials and indirect items.
• Develop robust stock control and ordering processes.
• Identify new suppliers and alternative supply routes to support NPD and risk mitigation.
• Work closely with Quality Assurance to ensure regulatory and compliance requirements are met.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Manage relationships with sub-contract manufacturing partners.
• Ensure purchasing records, BOMs and inventory information remain accurate and audit-ready.
What are we looking for?
• CIPS qualified (Essential)
• Strong purchasing/procurement experience within a Pharmaceutical regulated setting or equivalent manufacturing environment.
• Proven supplier negotiation and cost-saving experience.
• Experience managing and developing a team.
• Confident working with senior stakeholders and influencing commercial decisions.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing international suppliers would be advantageous.
• A hands-on, commercially minded approach with a genuine can-do attitude.
