Welcome to Pembroke Pembroke College is one of Cambridge's oldest and most celebrated communities founded in 1347, and home to 195 staff, 73 Fellows, and over 700 students. Our Catering Team serves everything from daily student cafeteria lunches and fine dining to College Feasts, weddings, and large-scale conference events set within our stunning historic buildings and gardens.
As a Hospitality Assistant, you'll be front and centre of it all the face our guests, Fellows, and students see every day. If you take pride in great service and thrive in a lively, varied environment, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing Assist in the preparation and service of all meals across a varied range of settings including cafeteria lunches, fine dining, College Feasts, buffets, the student café, and bar.
Ensure agreed standards of service are maintained at all times, treating every customer respectfully and handling all requests in a professional and courteous manner.
Lay and clear tables to the correct standard for each service type, and learn the correct procedures for setting buffets, lunches, and formal dinners.
Assist with the set-up and clearance of food and beverages for conferences and meeting rooms, including all buffets and dining events.
Ensure correct food charges are made and portion sizes are monitored throughout service.
Learn and correctly use the Monika HACCP system, completing all required hygiene checks and notifying supervisors of any areas needing attention.
Operate the till system accurately, following cash-up guidelines, raising change requisitions, and storing money securely.
Help to delegate, train, and supervise casual members of staff to ensure work is completed correctly and to standard.
What we'd love you to bring Experience of working in a restaurant, hotel, College or customer-facing environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills friendly, approachable, and professional.
Strong organisational skills and a flexible approach to a varied, shift-based workload.
Ability to work as part of a team and lead from the front when required.
Basic IT skills and ability to work weekend shift patterns.
Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work confidentially. xwzovoh
