Accounts Manager - Stanmore, Middlesex - £50,000 to £60,000 + Benefits

WestonBrook Associates are delighted to be supporting a highly reputable and long-established independent Chartered Accountancy practice in Stanmore with the recruitment of an experienced and qualified Accounts Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified practice professional to join a successful and growing firm, managing a varied portfolio of clients whilst leading and developing a team of bookkeeping and accounts staff. The role offers significant client exposure, responsibility, and genuine long-term career progression within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

Working closely alongside the firm's Partners, your duties and responsibilities will include:

• Managing a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and limited company clients across a variety of sectors.
• Reviewing statutory accounts prepared by Semi-Seniors, Seniors, and Bookkeepers prior to Partner sign-off.
• Reviewing VAT returns, management accounts, and corporation tax computations.
• Supervising, mentoring, and developing junior members of staff, providing guidance and technical support where required.
• Managing workflow across the team and ensuring assignments are delivered accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Acting as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong long-term relationships and responding to technical queries.
• Attending and contributing to client meetings alongside the Partners.
• Identifying opportunities to improve internal processes and enhance the overall client experience.
• Supporting the ongoing growth and development of the practice.

The Candidate

• ACA or ACCA qualification.
• Recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice environment.
• Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients.
• Demonstrable managerial and supervisory experience, including reviewing the work of Bookkeepers, Semi-Seniors, and other junior team members.
• Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts preparation and financial reporting.
• Experience reviewing VAT returns, management accounts, and corporation tax computations.
• Good working knowledge of cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
