Role Overview
A requirement has arisen for a Rates Payment Officer to join the Rate Management Team in London. The role provides day‑to‑day support across business rates administration, client service delivery, billing authority liaison, liability management, and internal reporting.
Key Responsibilities
*
Support delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual KPIs, ensuring deadlines and service standards are met
*
Process and review business rates and BID demands, recording liabilities, reliefs, and billing information accurately
*
Liaise with billing authorities on liabilities, queries, disputes, and notices
*
Maintain accurate databases, client records, and quality control systems
*
Assist with funding requests, payment schedules, remittance information, refund tracking, and reconciliation exercises
*
Undertake data cleansing, reconciliation, and reporting using Excel, Teams, and internal systems
*
Provide guidance to junior colleagues on business rates processes and queries
*
Contribute to team training, process improvement, and meetings
*
Identify savings opportunities, compliance risks, and value‑add services for clients
*
Attend occasional client site visits or meetings
Candidate Requirements
*
Minimum 2 years’ experience in business rates, local authority revenues, property administration, client accounting, or related property finance
*
Understanding of business rates demands, billing authority processes, reliefs, exemptions, credits, and refunds
*
Strong attention to detail with ability to review financial and property data accurately
*
Confident communicator with clients, billing authorities, subcontractors, and colleagues
*
Strong organisational skills with ability to manage competing deadlines
*
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Teams, and case management systems
*
Proactive, collaborative, and client‑focused approach
