Health & Safety Manager (regional)
Location: Home Counties, covering greater London and surrounding areas
Job Type: Full time, permanent
A main contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Health & Safety Manager to support its SHEQ function across London and the Home Counties.
This is a hands-on, site-led role with a good level of autonomy. You will work closely with senior management, supporting the continued development of systems and standards already in place, while helping maintain compliance and improve standards across the business.
You will work as part of a wider structure, with support and direction from senior stakeholders, allowing you to focus on delivery, engagement and practical support on the ground.
The role offers a mix of site, office and operational work, along with full control over your diary and the ability to manage your own time effectively.
Key responsibilities

Support the day-to-day delivery of the company’s health and safety arrangements alongside senior management
*
Carry out site inspections, audits and compliance checks across live projects
*
Review RAMS and safe systems of work, including subcontractor documentation where required
*
Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, and assist with follow-up actions
*
Support the maintenance of health and safety policies, procedures and documentation
*
Assist with compliance across ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems
*
Deliver toolbox talks, inductions and site briefings where required
*
Support training coordination and help maintain workforce compliance records
*
Work closely with operational teams to improve standards, behaviours and overall site compliance
*
Provide practical advice and support to managers and site teams on health and safety matters
Requirements
*
Experience in a similar role within a fast-paced, operational environment
*
Good understanding of UK health and safety legislation and practical application on site
*
Experience carrying out audits, inspections and incident investigations
*
Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and site teams
*
Strong communication skills and a practical, common-sense approach
*
NEBOSH qualification or equivalent
*
Full UK driving licence
