job description.Project Planner Location: West LondonSalary: 80,000-85,000 Excellent BenefitsJob Type: Full-Time, Permanent The Opportunity An established specialist construction and engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Project Planner to support the successful delivery of a major infrastructure project in West London. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished construction planning professional to take ownership of project programmes across the full project lifecycle. You will be involved from tender and pre-construction stages through to live delivery, working closely with operational teams to develop robust programmes, monitor progress and provide clear planning insight. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methodology, programme logic and project sequencing, together with hands-on experience using planning software such as Asta Powerproject or Microsoft Project. Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop detailed project programmes to support tender, pre-construction and live delivery activitiesEstablish and maintain baseline programmes, ensuring they accurately reflect the project scope, delivery strategy and key contractual milestonesRegularly update live programmes using information provided by project and site teamsProduce programme revisions, short-term look-ahead schedules, progress updates and planning reportsMonitor project performance against agreed milestones and completion datesReview programme logic, dependencies, critical-path activities and available floatIdentify programme risks, potential delays and areas that may affect project deliveryAssess the impact of changes, design developments, procurement issues and other project events on the overall programmeSupport the preparation and management of programme change-control informationAssist with programme-related contractual submissions, including extension-of-time and delay documentationProvide planning input during tender and pre-construction activitiesWork closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Commercial teams, Design teams, subcontractors and clientsSupport project teams in developing practical construction sequences and achievable delivery strategiesReview and challenge programme information to ensure it is robust, realistic and aligned with project requirementsProvide clear programme analysis and recommendations to support informed project decision-makingContribute to the ongoing development and improvement of planning processes, systems and reporting standardsMaintain accurate programme records, revisions and supporting documentation throughout the project lifecycleAbout You To be successful in this role, you will have:Previous experience working as a Project Planner, Construction Planner, Planning Engineer, Project Controls Planner or in a similar planning-focused positionA strong background in construction, engineering, infrastructure or major project deliveryProven experience developing, maintaining and updating detailed project programmesHands-on experience using Asta Powerproject, Microsoft Project or similar planning softwareA strong understanding of construction methodology, programme logic, sequencing and project deliveryExperience monitoring programme performance and reporting progress against key milestonesThe ability to identify critical-path activities, programme risks, delays and potential delivery issuesExperience producing programme reports, progress updates and short-term look-ahead schedulesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex programme informationExcellent communication and stakeholder-management skillsThe ability to work effectively with operational teams, project managers, engineers, subcontractors and clientsA proactive and detail-focused approach, with the confidence to challenge programme assumptions where requiredQualificationsA degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Controls, Project Management or a related disciplineRelevant construction planning or project-controls qualifications would be advantageousDesirable ExperienceExperience supporting programme change control, delay analysis and extension-of-time submissionsExperience of managing the planning function on live construction phasesEvidence of ongoing professional development within construction planning or project controls location.West Londonsalary. 80000 - 85000 per annum GBP type.Permanent
