Project Manager (Freelance) – Highways Infrastructure Rochdale £450 per shift Start June 2026 Duration: 100 weeks Freelance / Contract We are currently recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to join a major highways infrastructure project based at Rochdale on behalf of the Client, delivering works for a leading Tier 1 Main Contractor. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially aware Project Manager with strong planning and programme management capability and previous experience delivering civil engineering or highways schemes within a structured contract environment. THE ROLE: As Project Manager, you will take ownership of project delivery, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and commercially controlled throughout the project lifecycle. You will play a key role across planning, programming, commercial oversight and stakeholder coordination to ensure successful delivery against client expectations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead day-to-day delivery of highways project activities on site • Develop, maintain and manage project programmes and delivery schedules • Drive planning activities and monitor progress against milestones • Manage commercial aspects of the project alongside relevant stakeholders • Administer and operate within NEC contract frameworks • Identify and mitigate programme and commercial risks • Coordinate subcontractors, site teams and client interfaces • Ensure compliance with health, safety and quality requirements • Produce progress reports and support project governance processes REQUIREMENTS • Proven experience as a Project Manager within civil engineering or highways environments • Strong background in planning and programming of infrastructure works • Commercial awareness with experience managing project performance and cost control • Working knowledge and practical application of NEC contracts • Experience delivering projects for principal contractors or Tier 1 environments preferred • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Contract Details If you are an experienced Project Manager with highways experience and strong NEC knowledge looking for your next freelance opportunity, apply today or contact Dan Standish at Kenton Black (Leeds) for more info
