SEN Teaching Assistants – Thurrock (Full‑Time, Term‑Time Only) Start: ASAP & September 2026 Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm Contract: Long‑term with potential to go permanent Location: Thurrock Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them thrive in a nurturing, structured environment? Thurrock’s specialist SEN schools are looking for committed, patient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistants to join their teams. This SEN school caters for pupils aged 4–16 with a range of needs including ASD, SLD, MLD, PMLD, SEMH, communication needs and sensory processing differences. Every day is different, and every small step forward is a big win. What you will be doing ** Supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups with learning, communication and emotional regulation ** Using visual supports, sensory strategies and structured routines ** Assisting with personal care (where required) ** Helping pupils access learning through differentiated activities ** Working closely with teachers, therapists and support staff ** Creating a calm, safe and positive learning environment We would love to hear from you if you have ** Experience in SEN, care, youth work, mentoring, nurseries, or mainstream TA roles ** A calm, resilient and nurturing approach ** A genuine interest in supporting children with additional needs ** The ability to follow behaviour plans and work as part of a team ** A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Ideal for candidates with experience or interest in: ASD • SEMH • SLD • MLD • PMLD • Non‑verbal communication • PECS • Makaton • Sensory needs • Behaviour support • Team Teach (training can be provided) What you can expect ** Long‑term, stable roles in supportive SEN schools ** Ongoing training and development ** Opportunity to secure a permanent contract ** A welcoming, collaborative staff team ** Real impact every single day How to apply If you are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and want a rewarding role in a fantastic Thurrock SEN school, we would love to hear from you.
