About the role
DEPUTY MANAGER — CHILDREN'S RESIDENTIAL (EBD) Blackpool, Lancashire | £35,000 – £42,000 DOE | Full Time / Flexible Hours Available
The Role
We're looking for an experienced and driven Deputy Manager to join a children's residential home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll work closely alongside the Registered Manager to ensure the home delivers outstanding, therapeutic care — maintaining compliance, developing your team, and making a genuine difference to the lives of the young people you support.
Based in Blackpool, this is a brilliant opportunity for someone ready to step up or consolidate their leadership experience within a well-supported, stable service.
What You'll Be Doing
* Supporting the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring full compliance with Ofsted standards and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015
* Providing strong, consistent leadership to a team of residential support workers — including supervision, coaching, and performance management
* Holding responsibility for the home in the Registered Manager's absence
* Contributing to care planning, risk assessments, and the development of individual support strategies for young people with EBD
* Supporting Reg 44 and Reg 45 processes and embedding a culture of reflective practice and continuous improvement
* Building positive relationships with young people, families, external professionals, and placing authorities
* Championing safeguarding as a core function of the home
What We're Looking For
* Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (Level 5 desirable or working towards)
* Previous experience in a children's residential setting — ideally with EBD, SEMH, or complex needs
* A solid understanding of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding legislation, and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015
* Experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity (Deputy, Senior, Team Leader or similar)
* Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for trauma-informed, therapeutic care
* Ability to work flexibly in line with the needs of the home and the young people within it
What's On Offer
* £35,000 – £42,000 per year depending on experience
* Flexible hours to suit the right candidate
* Clear progression pathway toward Registered Manager
* Ongoing training and professional development
* A supportive, stable management structure
* The chance to make a real, lasting impact on young people's lives
