Works Manager

The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading international infrastructure and construction business, supporting the delivery of major projects across the UK. Due to ongoing project demand and growth, they are looking to appoint a Works Manager to take ownership of site operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high quality delivery. You will play a critical leadership role on site, managing teams, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Your duties and responsibilities will be Take overall responsibility for the safe delivery and performance of site operations on major projects Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to meet programme and production targets Ensure all works are delivered in line with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards Plan and manage materials, plant, and equipment across the site Carry out regular site inspections and ensure compliance with method statements and risk assessments Support project planning activities including work programmes and method statements Lead toolbox talks, task briefings, and promote safe systems of work Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance Collaborate with project teams to support delivery, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives Support investigations and close out of incidents, near misses, and safety concerns You will have the following qualifications & experience: Proven experience in a Works Manager or similar role within civil engineering, infrastructure, rail, or major construction projects Strong knowledge of site operations, project delivery, and construction methods SMSTS and CSCS certification Solid understanding of Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards Ability to lead teams and drive performance on site Experience working collaboratively with project teams and stakeholders It’s great if you also have the following Experience on major structures, rail, or highways projects NVQ Level 3 or 4 or equivalent qualification Knowledge of risk management, commercial awareness, and project controls Experience using construction management systems such as Themis or similar Strong problem solving and continuous improvement mindset The setting for the role This role is site based, working on major infrastructure and construction projects within a collaborative and fast paced environment. You will be working closely with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders, playing a key role in ensuring successful project delivery while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
